No, The Cranberries will not be at the California Academy of Sciences, but ZOMBIES will be! This coming edition of the Academy's popular adults-only Nightlife series will be a Halloween-themed edition dedicated to everyone's favorite brain eaters.

Since it's a science museum, there'll actually be some knowledge dropped that night. You'll be able to look at real brain specimens and Zombie Research Society advisor Bradley Voytek will discuss the neuroscience of the undead. That way you'll be prepared to diagnose your friends and loved ones for symptoms if (when?) shit goes down.

Other fun stuff happening that night: Midnight Mass hostess Peaches Christ will present a zombie drag show and costume contest, so wear your most tattered and blood-spattered duds. Don't have a stitch – er stitches? – to wear? Fret not, there'll be makeup artists who'll be on hand to bring out your inner corpse. Horror author Mia Grant will read some spooky stories and DJ Tomas Diablo will get all the undead shaking their bits to the hits. And The Go Game will present a Zombie Apocalypse Challenge, where you'll get to test your survival skills against brain nommers.

Speaking of The Go Game, they were kind enough to give us a pair of tickets to give away to a Bold Italic reader. If you wanna join the zombie masses at the Academy of Sciences for free, enter to win these tickets by sending us an email to contest@thebolditalic.com with the subject line "Zombie," from now until Tuesday, October 25 at noon. We'll choose a winner at random. By entering the contest, you'll also sign up for our weekly newsletter, so you'll be up to speed on all of our upcoming events, fave happenings, and tips on how to survive the zombie apocalypse.
