Be the Match

Nov 04, 2011 at 1pm

This weekend, the Asian Art Museum is hosting a special event at their Target Free Sunday. Be The Match Marrow Registry, a nonprofit organization that pairs patients with potential bone marrow donors, will be conducting registrations and cheek cell swabbing at the museum.  They are specifically looking for a South Asian donor for Amit Grupta, a beloved San Franciscan who has leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. His ethnic background leaves his chances of finding a donor at 1 in 20,000, so if you are South Asian, or have some compassionate potential donors as friends, please spread the word. Volunteers will be at the museum from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. No matter what your background, though, Be The Match would be grateful for your participation.  For more information on what’s involved, check out Be The Match’s ‘Donor’ page
