Most Popular Movies By State

Jan 13 at 10am

With the avalanche of Golden Globes recaps arriving after last night's big gala, it's a good time to talk movies. Specifically, what are the people's – not the critic's – favorite movies of all time? Reddit user Jakubisko created this colorful map tracking the top rated films by date from the online entertainment encyclopedia IMDb. California's winner? Pulp Fiction, which isn't terribly surprising. It's a tough state to choose the best movie from, but my vote would be for Boogie Nights instead, one of my favorite films by one of my favorite directors.

My home state, Oregon, gets One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and there too I'd vote for an indie: Meek's Cutoff.

Check out the map above and see if you agree that the film ratings match the states you know and love.

Update: As friends in Seattle pointed out, that city totally got shafted. My vote there is split between Singles and Say Anything
