The American Bible Society made a list of the most (and least) bible-minded cities in America. The ABS explains they created the ranking in order to "conduct effective ministry" and find out which US cities "embrace the best-selling book of all time." San Francisco came in at #4 on the Least Bible-Minded Cities list behind Providence, Rhode Island, Albany, New York and Boston, Massachusetts.
The ranking was based on telephone and online interviews with a random sampling of 46,000 Americans over the last seven years. People who answered that they had read the bible within the last seven days were considered "bible minded." This year's winner is Chatanooga, Tennessee and the South in general cleaned up. The study also found an inverse relationship between population size and Bibliciousness. Guess we're just a big bad city. I wouldn't want it any other way.
