Want to go away for a little pampering and TLC this weekend, but don’t know where to go? Well, look no further than beautiful Oakland. The sexperts at OneTaste are hosting a conference on Orgasmic Meditation, or OM, starting today at the Scottish Rite Center.

The OMXperience, otherwise known as OMX, is an annual three-day gathering featuring about 15,000 people from around the world, all of whom practice this lost art. OM is all about the elusive female orgasm, focusing on clitoral stimulation, either on your own or with a partner. The idea behind this practice is just to feel – with concentrated attention to the clitoris through gentle yet deliberate strokes. Those who practice OM are said to experience a similar mindfulness to that associated with meditation, as well as other marked benefits from increased orgasms. Marked benefits, you say? Yes ladies, you read that right. There are health benefits that come from getting off, more than just increasing relaxation. For example, reaching climax is great for your cardiovascular health; it also increases your cancer-cell-fighting oxytocin as well as releases endorphins. The blood surge associated with orgasm keeps your lady parts supple and refreshed, and combats against endometriosis, a condition that can lead to infertility. All good reason to keep striving for that big ‘O.’

OMX will explore the female orgasm through a bevy of speakers (including Naomi Wolf, Neil Strauss, and Gabrielle Anwar), workshops, and panel discussions, all of which depict the obvious (and not so obvious) advantages of this practice. The event climaxes with a party Saturday night celebrating intimacy. Tickets are somewhat expensive ($150-$250, $29 to livestream), but this may be the only festival you need to attend this year. I mean, who better to host a forward thinking, sexual convention, than a company called One Taste, with a slogan of ‘Powered by orgasm.’
