Mrs. Doubtfire 2 in the Works

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Fox 2000 studios is developing a sequel to one of the most famous films set in SF, Mrs. Doubtfire. I'll wait while you calm yourself from rage or joy or both. The sequel will include Robin Williams, the original director Chris Columbus, and Elf screenwriter David Berenbaum.

The Hollywood Reporter also reported that a sequel to the 1993 hit has been in the works since 2001 and gone through many possible writers, including sort-of famous ones like Bonnie Hunt. It's obvious why the studio would want to make a sequel to such a movie like this one, but could anything ever hold a candle to the original film's charm?
