Guests staying at the Mansion at Casa Madrona in Sausalito can now "get a welcome champagne toast delivered by a fully customized state-of-the-art octo-copter drone... a customized drone will fly in, land on the two-tiered deck of The Mansion's 5,000-square-foot master residence, the Alexandrite Suite, and deliver chilled champagne," according to the hotel's press release.
Apparently, Casa Madrona is working on smaller drones to deliver cookies and other amenities, and brags "As far as we know, no other hotels are doing this."
Is it just me, or does this remind anyone else of all the inefficient and show-offy gimmicks that people tried when iPad first came out (a la individual iPad menus at restaurant tables)?
