Have Bionic Sex with the First Bionic Dildo (NSFW)

Jun 24 at 10am

Watch out, Rabbit and Hitachi Magic Wand. It might be time to give up the crown of World's Most Famous Sex Toys because a company called Orgasmatronics is taking strap-ons to a whole new level with the world's first bionic dildo, Ambrosia Vibe.

"It's pretty much the greatest thing that's ever happened to strap-on dildos," team member Megan assures us in the Ambrosia Vibe explainer video, and from the look of the prototype, she's not being hyperbolic. While traditional strap-ons provide a psychological turn-on for users by allowing them to be the penetrating partner, the Ambrosia Vibe is the first strap-on to make that turn-on physical as well.

Nerve.com explains that the silicone dildo creates a pressure cavity that attaches to a tiny house which transforms any motion – be it sucking, stroking, or penetrating – into unique vibration patterns for the wearer. For example, a short squeeze and release of the dildo would result in a pulse and vibe sensation, whereas a slow rhythmic motion would translate into a low, steady buzzing. Unlike other vibrators or dildos currently on the market, the Ambrosia Vibe doesn't memorize patterns but instead mimics au natural sexual experiences by making each time totally unique.

The creator of the Ambrosia Vibe is a man called Dr. Xtreme, an award-winning physicist who toyed with the idea for years before the pleading of his kinky, queer, and trans friends finally got him to create it. In the video, Dr. Xtreme explains that he and the whole Orgasmatronics team are committed to creating products that will help people of all genders, sexualities, and kinks explore their sexual desires.

Here in the Bay Area, at least one sex shop owner is practically clearing out space on her shelves already.

"Dildos need people to make them exciting. However, once in a blue moon, a dildo comes along and is exciting all by itself," Nenna Joiner, the owner of Oakland sex toy shop and sex positive community center Feelmore510 told me. "Their product is fabulous in concept and when it hits the market, I can't wait to see it in action at the industry events."

Judging by the Ambrosia Vibe's Indiegogo page, Nenna's not the only one who's excited about seeing it in action. While they've already made their funding goals, you can still donate and be at the front of line to receive the Ambrosia Vibe when it comes to market. Bonus: If exploring new ways to have sex isn't enough of a reward for you, Orgasmatronics has enlisted the help of sex positive celebrities – including trans filmmaker and activist Buck Angel, cartoonist Erika Moen of Oh Joy, Sex Toy, and Lux Alptraum of Fleshbot – to offer exclusive rewards for their contributors. Now that's what I call extra bang for your buck.
