Oakland's upcoming kitty cafe has secured a location and will probably open this September. According to Eater SF, Cat Town Cafe has officially signed a five-year lease at 2869 Broadway at 29th Street. You might remember that SF's also getting a cafe for feline lovers called KitTea. But even though KitTea reached its funding goal, so far, it has yet to find a location, which means Cat Town will probably open first.
Cat Town is a project of the nonprofit cat rescue organization sharing the same name. It works with Oakland Animal Services to save shelter cats that might otherwise by euthanized. The cafe will help these kitties by exposing them to potential adopters, as well as giving them socializing opportunities outside of a tiny shelter cage.
