Last year we threw San Francisco the biggest gayest birthday party to date – this year we went even bigger. For our second annual Big Gay Birthday party, the event that celebrates the anniversary of San Francisco's founding on the eve of PRIDE weekend, we threw this city a proper rager, one most 238-year-olds could only dream of.

We got the party started right with one of our favorite local DJs, Rapid Fire, who had the dance floor at  Mezzanine bumping in no time.

Guests were welcomed on our pink carpet courtesy of Lyft, who doled out sweet deals on their services, not to mention 100's of tiny pink mustaches.

Local act, Double Duchess took things to the next level with a high energy performance complete with back-up dancers.

Southern Comfort was in the house serving up delicious featured cocktails along with some sought-after giveaways.

Peaches Christ, one of SF's most iconic drag performers and filmmakers, served as our hostess for the evening, riling up the crowd with her mind-blowing performance of Robyn's "Do it Again".Our friends atLELO, an intimate lifestyle brand, greeted guests with glow-in-the-dark slap bracelets-- the perfect PRIDE accessory. Our VIPs enjoyed gift bags filled with $250 worth of their luxury goodies. The ever-lovely and incredibly talented, Honey Mahogany, gave a show-stopping performance that served as something for our lip-syncing contestants to aspire to.Who doesn't need a cold one after working up a sweat on the dance floor? We had Coors LightBlue Moon and Peroni on hand to refresh thirsty party-goers.We featured five brave souls who battled it out in a heated lip-syncing contest for a trip for two to New Zealand, generously provided by Hawaiian AirlinesOur winner, Kylie Minono blew the judges away with her interpretation of Ella Fitzgerald's "Airmail Special" to snag the grand prize trip. Jealous? Don't be! Hawaiian Airlines is offering a 15% discount to all Bold Italic readers who book by July 9th. Book your trip and check out Auckland's PRIDE celebration in February.  The good folks at Jack Daniel's weren't about to let our runner up, Roxy-Cotten Candy go home empty handed. They presented her with a custom guitar for her amazing performances. Our headlining DJ was living legend, JD Samson (of Le Tigre and MEN), who kept the crowd on their feet late into the night. It wouldn't be a birthday party without party hats and birthday cake! The W Hotel supplied guests with festive toppers that included a two-for-one deal on a signature birthday shot they're featuring all month at the hotel bar. Our official birthday cake was once again provided by Pretty Please Bakeshop, one of our favorite sweet spots in the city. We had El Tonayense taco truck standing by for those who worked up an appetite partying, while A Flying Camera provided tons of photo booth fun. Guests also enjoyed samples of the world's best tasting kombucha, courtesy of The Bu.We couldn't help but add a few more of our favorite shots from the evening below, you can find even more party pics on Facebook. Thanks to everyone who showed up to sweat it out with us! We'll see you next year!
