Let's get one thing straight: Pocky are delicious. This is why you should be losing your shit that there will be a Pocky eating contest this Sunday under the Pagoda in Japantown as part of the J-Pop Summit Festival. The fastest person to eat seven boxes of Pocky wins 365 boxes of the popular Japanese treat! Each participant will get a bottle of water to help them chomp down those tasty chocolate-covered pretzel sticks and even if they don't come in first, all the participants will leave with some Pocky for their trouble.
If you'd like to enter, sign up at the entrance to the backstage area of the Pagoda Stage in Peace Plaza from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, BUT only the first eight people to sign up can compete so you'll probably want to throw your name in as early as possible. And if you're under 16 and want to participate, you'll need a parent with you when you sign up. Pocky are pretty pointy, so someone could probably get hurt if they tried. If you're looking for other things to do at the J-Pop Summit besides stuff cookie sticks in your face (and of course, eating at that epic ramen fest), you can see the full schedule here.
