Last night, over 500 people came out to 6th and Market to celebrate the microhood that we playfully named Mid Riff. It was awesome to see so many people enjoying the galleries, restaurants, and boutiques that have sprung up in the Mid Market area. But the highlight of the night had to have been when we received our proclamation from Mayor Ed Lee! Yes, fair citizens, yesterday will go down in history as "The Bold Italic's Mid Riff Microhood Day."
Other fun moments at the event included:
Spontaneous hula hooping breaking out at Satellite66.
One-man-band wonder boy Jordan B. Wilson doing his thang.
A visit from Supervisor Jane Kim at Huckleberry Bikes.
"So You Think You Can Paint" at Club Six was also a big hit. People got to go crazy on the walls, creating a smorgasbord of eye catching art pieces.
Good times were had by all! Check out our Facebook page for the photos.
Thank you to all of the merchants who opened their doors to offer discounts, free libations, and fun activities. We're especially grateful to our co-presenters: The Luggage Store, SF Camerawork, The Hospitality House Community Arts Program, and the SF Arts Commission.
And a special shout out to Zipcar for helping underwrite the festivities, and Scoutmob for throwing the after-party at Monarch.
