Music to Our Ears -- New Sounds from San Francisco

Photo of Vetiver by Alissa Anderson
When I heard that the vinyl label Secret Seven Records would be releasing an LP of previously unreleased songs called In A Cloud II: New Sounds From San Francisco in July, I perked up. As much as I wish I was better about following local bands, thus far I've been somewhat lazy and selective, checking The Bay Bridged every once in a blue moon, and popping into the occasional Vetiver or Thee Oh Sees show to quash my guilt.
If you need a refresher on the current local music scene, this forthcoming LP might be for you. It's got a little garage rock, a little folky hippie-ness, and a little singer songwriter – something for everyone. You can listen to the whole thing on Soundcloud here, preorder it here (there will only be 850 copies pressed), or just have a listen to some of the tracks:
Any and All – Vetiver
Gotta Get Back – Chuck Prophet
Octopus Via Satellite – Hannah Lew of Grass Widow
My Jacqui – Kelley Stoltz
Don't Ask This Of Me – Wymond Miles of the Fresh 'n Onlys
Hey Jacquiline – Papercuts
Swag (previously unreleased version) – Ty Segall
Center of the World – Bad Backs
Under My Eyes – Will Sprott of the Mumlers
On The Way Back Home – Paula Frazer
The Haunted – Lucky Eyes
People Like Us – Tim Cohen
Broom & Dustpan – Sonny & The Sunsets
