Hello! I'm Melissa Small, The Bold Italic's new Visual Design Lead. I'm excited to join this awesome team and to write to you from our beautiful office space. I've been a fan of The Bold Italic since I first learned about it a year ago, and on my second day here I'm an even bigger one. I love San Francisco (a lot!) and am psyched to work for a company with a mission to uncover the gems of this sweet city and share them with friends. 

A little about me: I'm into design with a point of view and a sense of humor. I appreciate a good pun. I like when stuff is made by hand, and I really like colors. Lots and lots of colors. I studied Communication Design at RISD, where I focused on design as a tool to empower communities. I see The Bold Italic as a great place to carry this work forward.

Aside from designing, you can find me wandering, running, bicycling, eating, people-watching, eating again, doodling and daydreaming throughout the city. Anyone want to go get something to eat?
