Weekend Rutbusters: Queer Parties, Power Couple Paintings, Luggage Store Rock

We don't need much of an excuse to party in San Francisco. But considering our city is a major destination for LGBT folks from around the globe, our streets are gonna get extra crazy this weekend. My Rutbusting picks include a couple suggestions that folks of all make-out persuasions would be smart to peruse.

Edible Art (Fri.) Two of my favorite local artists, Ferris Plock and Kelly Tunstall, happen to work very well together. So well, in fact, that they're married (and were included in our power couples photo essay). They're teaming up for a joint show with a food theme at Fecal Face Dot Gallery that sounds amazing – and delicious.

Jump in a Lake (Fri.) You could continue your art hopping by jumping on over to Lake Gallery on Divis and hitting their last show ever before they close their doors for good.

Rays of Light (Fri.) And then head into the Haight for an art opening at RVCA that's all about the bands. I'm digging the Tambo Rays songs posted on Soundcloud. It's country- and delay-dusted indie rock with excellent harmonies. They're playing along with Santa Cruz beach punks Meat Market

Bearded Bandits (Fri.) If you love facial hair as much as we do, you might wanna head down to Artists' Television Access on Friday for a doc about beards that includes a contest for the best tickly chin covers.

With Love from Texas (Sat.) The last time I saw OG Texas punk/garage rocker Tim Kerr take the stage, he broke his leg jumping off a bench while playing his guitar. The guy doesn't do anything halfway, which makes me excited to see what kinda sonic mayhem he's rounding up for a performance as part of the Luggage Store's closing party for the group "Streetopia" show. He performs along with SonFoot, Black Rainbow, and Shellshag starting at 9 p.m.

Hard Kissing (Sun.) We heart Hard French, and we know they're gonna throw it down for Pride weekend. Their Los Homos party with SOMArts on Sunday should be one for the history books – especially since they're hosting old school soul legend Sugar Pie DeSanto

Porn, Pizza, Pride (Sun.) Another great Pride bash that came across my radar: sun yourself on El Rio's patio Sunday as part of Queerly Beloved, a celebration of Pride, porn stars, and pizza.

Men and Me (Sun.) And since no one is going to bed early this Sunday, I'll sneak in here one of my current listening faves, Brooklyn's The Men, who are bringing their scuzzy, psych-dosed punk to Bottom of the Hill.
