Cinephiles, take note! The basement of Lost Weekend video on Valencia Street has been turned into a little 25-seat movie house with the help of their regulars and some generous donations on Kickstarter. Starting in July, they'll be screening a range high brow and low brow films, including rare vintage finds, unavailable-to-rent imports, and sinfully satisfying Buffy marathons. While the theatre will be an underground Cineclub for members only, tonight they're hosting an open house, and anyone can go check out the space from 8 - 11 p.m.

The official opening night is Saturday, and the-little-cinema-that-could will be celebrating VHS and video stores with local forgotten film enthusiast Jesse Ficks of Midnites for Maniacs. There will be a seating at 7:45 p.m. and another one at 9 p.m., but be sure to show up early since space is limited. While independent video stores are closing down everywhere, it's wonderful to see one expand. Keep on rocking, Lost Weekend! (In case you couldn't tell from this post, we love these guys. Check out our backstory on Lost Weekend's illustrious staff.)
