Summer's here! San Francisco's Indian summer, anyway. And it looks like it's going to be warm and sunny in the Mission, where the fifth annual Rock Make Street Festival is going down on Saturday. As the name suggests, this fest has two parts: the "Rock" includes bands performing on two stages; the "Make" means awesome art and wares from local makers, food trucks, and a beer and wine garden.

To prep you for the musical side of things, I spoke with Exray's, one of the bands playing on Saturday, who gave me an exclusive interview and shared their brand spankin' new song with us.

The Bold Italic: Why are you excited to perform as part of Rock Make 2012?
Exray's: Playing with the sun overhead is a miraculous opportunity for us. We're nocturnal people who play night music, so we are seriously grateful to the Rock Makers for assuming the massive risk associated with having Exray's perform during the day. We can't wait.

TBI: What are some of your favorite local businesses?

E: Aquarius Records is constructing the Musical Library of Congress right in front of our eyes, spanning the underground and writing their hearts out every week. The jukebox at Rock Bar is just their latest brainstorm. MolluskForthrite Printing, and New Factory all come up aces too.

TBI: How much does where you live factor into your music or live show?
E: People from the Bay Area are from the future; we strive to please them by making music that reminds them of where they came from.

TBI: What band are you most excited to see at Rock Make this year?
E: The list of the bands could inspire an entire day in the sun (Terrifying as this may sound). I'll remove protective eyewear for Yalls because I admire his technicolor dream coat and for John Vanderslice, who has discovered the fountain of youth.

And now, here's the song we promised you, "Invisible Forces," which is a Fresh & Onlys cover. Jon Bernson of Exray's says it seemed appropriate to release their version of the song on the same week as the Fresh & Onlys' new record. Check it!
