Barbacco Casa: Five Star Take Home Dinners

Dinner_plate

Okay, so you’ve got a dinner date. (Good job, because that’s the hard part.) But now you gotta figure out where you're going to eat. Reservations are all booked and you’re not the greatest cook. Shoot! You’re scratching your head and scrambling for options now. Chinese take-out? Pizza?

Luckily, date night (or any dinner) at home doesn’t have to mean Hot Pockets and Hamburger Helper. Barbacco Eno Trattoria, a rustic Italian restaurant located on California Street in the Financial District, is introducing their new “Barbacco Casa” five star take-home dinner program. You can enjoy gluttonous dishes, like braised lamb shanks or rolled flank steak with parmesan, all from the comfort of your own home. Fancy pants not required.

Barbacco's take home-dinner menu options changes daily based on chef Nick Kelly’s seasonal menu choices. Each meal includes a salad, an entrée, and two side dishes, and is priced at $21-$25 per person. You can even add a bottle of red or white wine for $15 more.

I ordered a meal for two (pork ribs served with roasted potatoes and roasted peppers) by calling Barbacco and letting them know a pick-up time. After work, I dropped by (this would be extra convenient for all you FiDi workers), and there was my five star dinner waiting for me, perfectly hot and ready to go.

Back home, I opened up the kit and plated our meal, and just because it seemed appropriate, lit a candle at the table. But that's as formal as we got. My date and I picked up those soft, juicy pork ribs with our bare hands and devoured them, sans napkin. I might’ve even licked my fingers after. Classy.

Barbacco Casa is available Monday through Friday. Orders can be placed directly over the phone at 415-955-1960. Check out the weekly menu here.

Get ready for sweatpants-friendly fine dining from your couch.
