Tech Leaders Discuss Trust Issues

Dsc_2734Folks from the tech community alongside start-up enthusiasts filled Public Works on Monday February 11 to explore how start-ups build trust into the core design and function of their products. We collaborated with the fine folks from General Assembly to build this all-star panel, which was moderated by Jonah Houston, Systems Designer at IDEO, and included the likes of :

•Logan Green, Founder & CEO of Lyft

•Andrew Schapiro, Graphic Design Lead at Airbnb

•Avery Lewis, Head of Product at Getaround
•Luke Woods, Product Design Manager at Facebook
•Bastian Lehmann, Founder & CEO of Postmates

Let's be real, there are some serious barriers that prevent people from trusting technology and trusting one another. This panel discussed some core themes and successful tactics related to building trust. Things that work across the board: reciprocal rating systems and humanizing platforms through photos and Facebook integration. We could go on and summarize it all in writing, but instead, talented illustrator Jeremy Sypniewski, took the time to recap the entire event in a way that's much more creative than your average bullet points. So if you weren't able to make it, or you just want to see a cool comic of the evening's events, check it out here:

Following the panel, guests were ushered upstairs for a reception and the chance to mingle with the panelists and one another. Stay tuned – The Bold Italic and General Assembly look forward to bringing you more events exploring other topics in the start-up world.
