The Tenderloin Coffee Crawl

I've been editing a story called "Tenderloin Nouveau" by Miquel Hudin from Tenderblog about the pioneering merchants who are moving to the 'hood (a somewhat controversial opinion piece – look out for it next Thursday the 17th). I was browsing Tenderblog's Flickr pool and stumbled on Frank Chan's photos of the recent Tenderloin Coffee Crawl, which drew quite a crowd. I was simultaneously inspired by these new businesses on the block and bummed that I missed the event.

I hadn't even heard of Little Bird Coffeehouse before. Definitely one to check out.

There was some serious coffee cupping (De La Paz and Ritual) going on inside Little Bird.

Hooker's Sweet Treats was hawking their sea salted dark chocolate covered caramels (as always), not to mention Sightglass espresso. I hear they serve bread pudding these days too.

Jerad and Justin (brothers) of Sightglass Coffee were pouring the good stuff on the spot.

Looks like there were lots of people outside of farm:table . Maybe those Verve single origin espressos had something to do with it? The cafe hopes to have a parklet out front soon.

Brewing demos kept the crowd entertained.

farm:table was selling Coffee Braised Pulled Pork Sliders to support the parklet fund.

The Contraband Coffee Bar of Nob Hill was serving up their own brew as well. Apparently they roast in Oakland.

There was a Four Barrel Coffee pop-up coffee kiosk at the Bamboo Bike Studio too.

Thanks to Frank Chan for the photos. I hope to make it out to the next one!
