About Arvel

According to his father, Arvel was found by his family as an orphaned donkey in the hills of rural Mexico. Once they had cropped his ears and tail and taught him to walk upright, they brought him to Long Beach, California, where he spent his formative years. He has since done his best to be a good guy, earning the rank of Eagle Scout, attending graduate school, and eating (mostly) vegetarian.

Arvel came to San Francisco in 2005 and abandoned a budding career in neuroimaging research to sling records at Amoeba, and to record and tour with several bands. In 2009, he co-founded Endless Nest (a music and art collective) and Empty Cellar Records (an independent vinyl label) http://www.EndlessNest.com.

His dream is to assemble a community dedicated to art, music, and “think-tanking” about resource conservation on an expansive land preserve and organic farm in Northern California.
