I have a theory that for every person who leaves New York for San Francisco there's a person leaving San Francisco for New York. I don't know what kind soul gave me my spot when I sailed into town in August 2003, but I remain grateful. At this stage I'm able to walk around without stopping to stare in amazement at every palm tree on the block, but the view from the intersection of Octavia and Jackson never ceases to move me. Let's see ... I taught writing for a number of years at many colleges and universities in the Bay Area, but for the past year I've been at a foundation. I have a side business as a writing consultant, where I help people with writing projects, from writing a book to creating a portfolio of essays to apply to high school, college, or graduate school. For a long time, I was working on a book, but about a year ago I started a streetstyle blog, The Styley, and since then I've fallen (back) in love with photography. I'm curious to see where that goes.
