Kristen grew up in rural Pennsylvania and has lived in San Francisco since 1992. Her first few years in the city she spent working at cafes and restaurants until people agreed to pay her to write -- most recently about science and technology for Wired, where she eventually became the science editor. She's also written for BoingBoing.net, San Francisco Magazine, Media Bistro, Refinery29.com, and many more that are no longer with us.
