About Matt

I started out in NYC in the early '80s taking dance and acting classes and modeling on the side. I worked as a lifeguard, a sales clerk, a bouncer, and a doorman. But I still barely got by. One weekend, my friend offered me $400 to paint his office. I took the job and never looked back. I made more money than ever and within a few months I was able to quit my other jobs and focus solely on home improvement. Today, I’m a building contractor with clients in New York and San Francisco. I really enjoy being able to work with my hands and running my own business. I’ve also written several “how-to” books on painting, wallpapering, carpentry, and tile.
