About Carl
I was born and raised in California, most of that time in and around Salinas, a place full of intriguing sights and smells. I remember the Nestle chocolate factory, Schilling's spices, the fecund and fecal smells of farming and the salinity of the Pacific. There was a new scent every time the wind changed direction. My eyes opened to art my senior year in high school and I headed to Sonoma pursuing a degree in photography and handmade paper (no kidding!). After three years of this I realized the world didn't need another artist and I took a job at a small winery. That was over 20 ago and the rest, as they say, is history.
