DESCRIPTION:Southern Exposure (San Francisco) and Machine Project (Los An
 geles) collaboratively present Southern Machine Exposure Project (SMEP)\
 , twenty consecutive days of programming featuring forty artists and gro
 ups\, twenty hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area and twenty visiting
  from Los Angeles. Projects take place in apartments\, houses\, backyard
 s\, and garages that are transformed into public venues for a series of 
 psychic readings\, workshops\, ghost detectioning\, participatory foley 
 effects\, tableaux vivants\, pet portraits\, experimental music by dogs\
 , low frequency sound performances (in closets)\, and general awesomenes
 s throughout the month of June.\n\nEach event features a collaboration\,
  double bill\, or blind date between artists and performers from Los Ang
 eles and San Francisco. The project reflects a blending of sensibilities
  between both organizations and artists. SMEP is commemorated by a serie
 s of twenty posters commissioned by ten LA and ten SF designers\, and tw
 enty videos which will be on view at Southern Exposure and online. In ad
 dition to off-site programming in residences\, Southern Exposure's space
  serves as the production headquarters and meeting space for project par
 ticipants and screens daily video documentation of each event as it accu
 mulates throughout the project. \n\nHere's the lineup of performers\, au
