There’s something to be said for pretending to be a tourist in your own town. You know – hitting the sites with a camera strapped around your neck, downing pints like your office is across the country, going to prison – all that fun stuff.
For the first in The Bold Italic’s series of Urban Photo Safaris around San Francisco, we’re partnering with Photobooth and Brewtruc to offer you a one of a kind afternoon on Alcatraz Island, that cinematic destination most locals have yet to reclaim from the tourists. Guests on this field trip to the iconic prison will be lent a vintage Polaroid camera and given a cartridge of film from Photobooth, who will also be providing a Polaroid specialist to help you capture the best shots from the scenic cells. After a couple hours on the island, Brewtruc will quench your thirst for rare craft beers on a ride back across town on their revamped bus to The Bold Italic HQ in Hayes Valley. We’ll finish the trip by topping off a few pints and sharing our favorite shots with each other – projecting some of the best ones up on the wall.
It’s gonna be a beer, Polaroid, and prison party like no other. Join the ride for only $100, which includes entry to Alcatraz.
When: Noon- 6 p.m. (meet at Alcatraz Landing, Pier 33; end up at the Bold Italic HQ in Hayes Valley)
