The Coalition on Homelessness was formed in 1987 to organize homeless and poor people, and their supporters to create permanent solutions to homelessness and poverty, while protecting the civil and human rights of those forced to remain on the streets. We work hard to ensure poor people themselves are crafting, leading and implementing the social changes they envision through a democratric process. Throughout the history of the organization, our staff and volunteers have represented the demographics of our constituent population and most are formerly or currently homeless.
