Where would you have your last meal on earth (and what would you eat)? I'd go to Beretta and have a margherita with burrata, squid ink risotto, both bruschettes, and an Improved Whiskey Cocktail or four.
What's your favorite San Francisco institution (i.e., character, food cart, museum, landmark)? Lexington Street Disco Ball. At first you're like, "That could be anywhere; anybody could do that," but as the years pass, you realize it's more than just a disco ball in a tree on a street -- it's a perfect eternal monument to fun with friends and stumbling home way too late.
Where do you get your city gossip? For politics and hard news and stuff, I watch Necessary Conversation every Friday, but for sex and drugs and romance I go straight to Janebook.
Who's your favorite quintessential local character? I've only known Dennis Kernohan for a couple weeks, but the minute you meet him (or look at his Flickr photostream), you're like, this is San Francisco.
Where do you go to relax and get away from it all? I go out to the tip of Heron's Head Park, sit on a concrete slab and marvel at the wildlife and views of Hunters Point to the south, Twin Peaks to the west, and the East Bay to the east.
