Neighborhood: Lower Haight

What are you up to these days? Making quasi-humorous short films with local comedians and talented artists. I’m also undergoing pre-production for a nasty short horror film that I’ve written, entitled Christmas Gifts. It’s a coming-of-age horror movie about a family of killers who invade the wealthy estate of a neighboring family on Christmas Eve … fun stuff, right? More info TBA.

SF is... oxymoronic.

Who's your favorite quintessential local character? Craig Baldwin at ATA. He has a visceral reaction to celluloid unparalleled by any man.

Why do you love your neighborhood? Haight and Divisadero… Is it Lower Haight? Upper Haight? Pan Handle? It’s great because it has no well-defined identity. I live on the border-line between stupid tourism and gentrification.

What's your favorite SF institution? DaHill’s Handwriting Analysis off 9th Avenue and Lincoln Street. In such desperate economic times, these guys are holding it down, somehow, and defying all odds (made-for-TV movie coming soon).

What would you change about SF? The name. I’d change it to something religiously and culturally neutral, like “Coexist City” (but spelled with all the symbols and stuff, you know).
