Gil

Neighborhood: Upper Haight, Laurel Heights

Gig: Founder & Creative Director, Gershoni Creative

Where does everybody know your name? The Velo Rouge Cafe, where I order my quadruple shot of Blue Bottle espresso.

Why do you love your neighborhood? It's one block from Golden Gate Park – a great urban neighborhood with families and oddballs and rarely any vomit on my doorstep.

What event will we find you this week? The opening of "Are We There Yet?" at the Contemporary Jewish Museum. Ken Goldberg and I created a reactive sound installation in that stunning "Yud" space.

Who's your favorite local character? My in-laws. Glide's "Jews in the pews." Food runners. Farmer and flea market gurus. The kindest, happiest, hippest people I know.

What local merchant have you been meaning to check out? Ben and Chris Ospital's new MAC concept store opening in Dogpatch!

What's your own secret spot? The fire escape off my office. I can see the whole city perched 19 floors up, with no railings.
