Neighborhood: The Mission

Gig: Founder & Curator, Gallery Carte Blanche

What are you up to these days? Planning 10 shows at once for the gallery (four openings, five book signings, and a photobook celebration weekend), and packing and furniture shopping for a new apartment.

What event will we find you at next week? At Carte Blanche’s artist talk and book signing on Saturday, June 16th. We’ve invited two amazing photographers to present their photo books: Beth Yarnelle Edwards for Suburban Dreams and Frank Yamrus for I Feel Lucky.

SF is... better than Paris. Yes, I know. No one believes me!

Where would you have your last meal on earth? French home-cooked meal – a boeuf bourguignon or a canard a l’orange, with a good bottle of red wine. My husband is a great cook!

Where do you get your local gossip? I don’t have much time for gossip… but I love their new album!

Why do you love your neighborhood? Diversity and sunshine.

What's your favorite under-the-radar SF restaurant? Grandeho's Kamekyo – a sushi place in Cole Valley, one of the best I’ve tried in San Francisco so far.

Where do you go to relax and get away from it all? Tank Hill – amazing views of the city and the perfect spot to watch the fog entering the bay.

What local merchant have you been meaning to check out? Gourmet and More in Hayes Valley. I’ve been told they have amazing cheeses and French stuff you can’t find anywhere else!
