Neighborhood: The Mission

Gig: Proprietor of Elixir, Director of The Boothby Center, Co-Founder of SF Cocktail Week, Brand Ambassador of Square One Organic Spirits

What are you up to these days? Working on building the best beverage education center on the West Coast – The Boothby Center.

Where would you have your last meal on earth? At home with my fiance. I'd cook up a medium rare rib eye and a dungeness crab.

What's your favorite San Francisco institution? The Buena Vista. You can't beat the combination of the view, the classic bartenders, and the chance to meet eager and happy tourists, all over some whiskey. Inevitably I bump into a local bartender there.

Where do you get your local gossip? Elixir. Behind the bar is the best place to be to hear gossip.

Why do you love your neighborhood? Because The Mission has it all and it continually changes. It's artistic, urban, and always alive.

Who's your favorite quintessential local character? Emperor Norton, because he embodies the history and eclectic nature of everything Bay Area.

What local merchant have you been meaning to check out? There are so many great chefs and restaurants I have not been able to check out simply because I work too much. I've heard great things about Barbacco and Ragazza. Both have been on my hit list.
