Neighborhood: The Castro

Gig: Ike at Ike's Place

What are you up to these days? Trying to get a six-pack so that I can sell a lot of swimsuit calendars in order to pay for my dining out in SF addiction.

What event will we find you at this week? The grand opening of a brand new Ike’s!

Where would you have your last meal on earth? Well, if it’s going to be my last meal, it would have to be at Ike’s, but I’d bring my own ingredients. I’ll have lobster, Dirty Sauce, and Havarti cheese on a buttery croissant. Or maybe a duck confit sandwich! Close second: Glazed Oysters with Osetra Caviar at Gary Danko.

Where do you get your local gossip? The foodie blogs: EaterSF, SFist, etc.

Who's your favorite quintessential local character? Brian Wilson. He’s what you get when you cross Marina-ites and Mission Hipsters.

Why do you love your neighborhood? There’s always someone hootin’ and hollerin’ on the street, even at 3 a.m. Reminds me that I live in a city.

What's your favorite under-the-radar SF restaurant? The best restaurant in SF that no one knows about is Chan Chan on 18th & Danvers. Wonderful Cuban food.

What's next for you in your work/creative world? A few Ike’s should open up this year and dare I say the first Ike’s Place to be opened outside of the Bay Area?
