Neighborhood: Inner Richmond

Gig: Executive Chef, Ram’s Gate Winery

What are you up to these days? I just recently signed on at Ram’s Gate Winery as the Executive Chef. It's a brand-new winery in the Carneros region of Sonoma, and it's breathtakingly beautiful. I have new kitchens, a massive garden, and bees.

Where would you have your last meal on earth? Pizzeria Delfina. I just think it's perfection. As for what I would eat: the Purgatorio pie with house made fennel sausage, chilled tripe, meatballs, fries with eyes, panna pie, cannoli, zeppoli, and a thick, creamy double shot from the sexiest espresso machine ever, "Anthony’s baby," the vintage Faema.

Who's your favorite quintessential local character? Mark Gonzales, the professional skateboarder and artist. Because he basically invented switch-stance skating. Because he kick-flipped the Gonz Gap in SF. Because he bombs the steepest hills in SF, in the rain… THAT is mental.

What's your favorite under-the-radar restaurant? Eats. It’s a breakfast joint in my neighborhood. It's hands-down the BEST breakfast I have had in SF, and maybe anywhere.

What's your favorite SF institution? El Huarache Loco at the Alemany Farmers' Market. Veronica is truly a force of nature. I have so much respect for her as a chef, a mother, and a woman.

What local merchant have you been meaning to check out? Seedstore on Clement. I walk by there all of the time and their clothes look great.
