Neighborhood: SOMA

Gig: Founder of Stitch & Hammer

What are you up to these days? My husband and I are both pursuing an MFA in interactive design. Our joint thesis is an online magazine dedicated to contemporary craftsmen that highlights and promotes the work of artisans and American made goods. In addition to school, I also make my own handmade goods under the label Stitch & Hammer, with an emphasis on creating quality products that are designed to last.

Where would you have your last meal on earth? I love being in the kitchen and cook primarily at home. However, a half dozen oysters and a pint of stout at Anchor and Hope is pretty swell.

Where do you get your local gossip? I just joined Twitter and I have to say the community has been very responsive in terms of launching my business. Also, SFGate/96 Hours is a wonderful resource. I love the Bargain Bites section!

Who's your favorite local character? The wild parrots.

What's your favorite under-the-radar SF restaurant? Grabbing a sandwich at The Sentinel on New Montgomery and sitting in the grass at Yerba Buena Gardens when the weather permits.

What do you get obsessive about here in SF? The fog. I like dry, hot summers.

What local merchant have you been meaning to check out? The General Store. I can't believe I haven't been there yet!
