Neighborhood: Bernal Heights

Gig: Freelance Illustrator and Artists in Education Program Manager at Southern Exposure

What are you up to these days? I am drawing, running with dogs, playing Scrabble, and eating lots of chocolate.

Where would you have your last meal on earth? My last meal would be the meatballs at Bar Bambino, but I'd need a few orders.

Where do you get your local gossip? I like Mission Local for the trouble and Bernalwood for the pics of runners in bikinis.

Who's your favorite quintessential local character? I love Andrew McKinley of Adobe Books. He's always smiling and glowing and has given San Francisco the city's best living room.

Where's your go-to date place? Balboa Theatre takes you away from the city without leaving, plus they have good popcorn and nice ticket-takers. Shanghai Dumpling King is a great topper to a great movie.

What's your favorite under-the-radar SF restaurant? Evergreen Garden on Harrison makes a mean pho and imperial rolls to write home about.

Where do you go to relax and get away from it all? I'm lucky to live in a place where the beach is a short drive in three directions. Nothing beats walking in the sand with my dogs.

What's your favorite SF institution? I know I work there, but Southern Exposure truly is my favorite. I get to make art with high school students, meet emerging artists from all over the world, and bring my dogs to work.
