What are you up to these days? On June 16th I am having an art opening at the store and a chocolate, whiskey, and wine pairing party at the bar down the street, Lucky Horseshoe for the same night.

What event will we find you at this weekend? We have a chef CC Made coming to sample at the store on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. She makes amazing caramel corn and salted caramels.

Where would you have your last meal on earth? I’m vegan for the most part, so I would say Millennium. I’d have the chef’s five course tasting menu. And definitely like three desserts!

Where do you get your local gossip? The Bold Italic for sure! Also I like Mission Mission, Vegansaurus, and Bernalwood. I’ve lived in the Mission for 15 years and Bernal Hill for the last 8. I like it here I don’t really care about anything else.

Where's your go-to date place? I like going up to the top of Bernal Hill and looking out over the city. It’s quiet and sexy, ohh lala, up on the hill.

Where's your secret spot? I like Lucky Horseshoe Bar, St. Mary’s Pub, and Rock Bar. These were scary-as-shit bars in my neighborhood and now some good people (really good people) have turned them around. Nobody knows how great they are because they are in outer Mission or on the hill.

What's your favorite under-the-radar SF restaurant? Emmy’s Spaghetti Shack. I’ve worked there for like eight years now (oh geez, time flies). People come in all the time who have never been in. We’ve been open for 11 years now. We don’t advertise and we are chill, but damn it is the BEST!

What do you get obsessive about here in SF? I am obsessed with public farming. I have a community garden in Bernal and it has been an obsession of mine for five years. I love being able to grow my food. I’ve had some great harvests and have been able to share the love.

What local merchant have you been meaning to check out? I want to go to Candy Store, and Miette. I didn’t ever go to other candy shops because I had a clear vision of what I wanted. I think now I would like to go and see what all the fuss is about.

What would you change about SF? I wish we would put more love into public housing and clean up the harder, meaner streets. I can’t see anyone coming out of the projects feeling like they have a real chance at coming out of it. It’s bullshit! It’s horrible. Shame on the city for building all this nice stuff for people and letting people rot in the tenements of public housing projects!
