Where does everybody know your name? I hang out way way too much at Borderlands Cafe, where total nerdery and crazy strong coffee are a potent mix.
What event will we find you at this week? I'll be at Writers With Drinks on Saturday night, hosting the show with the usual amount of lies and calumny. This time, we've got former Lost producer Javier Grillo-Marxuach as well as Daphne Gottlieb!
Where would you have your last meal on earth (and what would you eat)? Spices! in the Richmond. And basically as much Mapo Tofu as I could get them to bring me.
Why do you love your neighborhood? The Lower Haight is the mellow Haight. It's the funky Haight. It's the Haight where you can hang out and get some awesome Indian food and cheap-ass cocktails without getting hassled by tourists.
What's your secret spot in town? The New People Mall in Japantown has amazing coffee, super-kawaii overpriced stores to browse through, and that awesome movie theater showing Japanese imports. Plus the restrooms in the basement have those Japanese toilets with the heated seats.
Where do you go to relax and get away from it all? I love to walk out to the lake by 36th Street in Golden Gate Park, with the turtles and their turtle-shaped rock.
