Neighborhood: The Mission
Gig: Artist, illustrator, mayor of Sassiland
What are you up to these days? I'm working on a toy art collection, two books, and a painting exhibition. I don't have a manufacturer, a publisher, or a gallery yet, but I have enough love.
Where do you get your local gossip? Jen from Glama-Rama Salon is the one who usually tells me what's hot in town while she touches up the pink on my hair.
Who's your favorite local character? Definitely the Mission guitar dude, Omer . He's controversial, polemic, and funny for some but disturbing for others, but still quite a quintessential character.
Do you have a secret spot? This little Russian convenience store at Geary and 10th for all the exquisite Russian candies that only they carry in San Francisco (as far as I know).
What's your favorite under-the-radar restaurant? I'll pretend people don't know about Angkor Borei, the delicious Cambodian restaurant on Mission Street.
Where do you go to relax and get away from it all? There's a little wonderland called Mission Creek Park. I love to sit there and just stare at the boat houses, especially the one with a giant swan boat next to it. Magic.
What do you get obsessive about? Papaya from Mi Ranchito and boba tea.
What local merchant have you been meaning to check out? The Mission Statement, this awesome little boutique on 18th and Valencia. I always drool at their shop window.
