Neighborhood: Inner Sunset
Gig: Community organizing and frugal living
Where do you get your local gossip? I sit in my camping chair on the sidewalk as often as possible, hearing the literal word on the street from my neighbors.
Who's your favorite quintessential local character? Local native plant champion Greg Gaar. His energy has been relentless for decades and he has a big heart but he doesn't put on fake smiley faces for anybody.
What's your favorite under-the-radar SF restaurant? The tiny, progressive hotdog joint Underdog for their Ultimate Thumb Wrestling poster.
Where's your go-to date place? My girlfriend's house in Santa Cruz, because I get to ride my bicycle 85 miles there.
Why do you love your neighborhood? Because more of us every day are building community. We learn each others' names, gather for sidewalk potlucks, and dream of public spaces for people.
Where's your secret spot? The sidewalk, seriously. The more daily activities - reading, writing, thinking - we bring out there, the safer and more alive are our streets. Do it!
