is driven by Mission minutia
Neighborhood: The Mission
Gig: Uptown Almanac
Where does everybody know your name? Bender's Bar, if only because I go there multiple times a week to play pinball and stuff my face with grilled mac n' cheese sandwiches and tater tots.
What event will we find you at this week? Checking out dystopian skateboard fiction at The Roxie for SF Indiefest.
What's your most embarrassing SF moment? Every morning that I wake up and publish something on my blog I want to curl up in the corner and shake.
Where do you get your city gossip? Dolores Park, where you can always find a variety of city officials, policy wonks, start-up nerds, journalists, and hungover sacks of flesh that accidentally drank 14 beers and had sex with half the patrons at Pop's the night before.
Who's your favorite quintessential local character? Cold Beer, Cold Water. Not only does he always rock a Giants hat, but he represents everything that's magical about our entrepreneurial drive and obsession with buying street food and street drinks from whatever sketchoid will sell it.
What's your go-to date place? The best part of living in the Mission is that there are no "date spots" or places that expect you to look like you actually have a job; dating is merely getting drinks at whatever bar pleases you or checking out a show. Why yes, I am the most romantic guy you'll ever meet.
If you can change one thing about San Francisco, what would it be? Kill off the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and start letting people cut loose at street festivals once again.
