What are you up to these days? I simultaneously became a father and a small business owner in September of 2010 and have been trying to figure out how to do both since.
Where would you have your last meal on earth? I would go to La Taqueria for dinner and Arinell Pizza for dessert. Yes, I have done this before.
Who's your favorite quintessential local character? During my years riding BART, it was definitely Jesse Morris, aka The Punk Rock Johnny Cash, who would make every morning start out right. Unfortunately, he passed away a couple of months ago. I hope he knew how happy he made people like myself in the morning.
Where's your secret spot? On Bernal Heights Blvd. at the base of the hill. It's an amazing view of the city where you aren't bombarded by tourists. Only dogs.
What's your favorite under-the-radar SF restaurant? Not sure how we're defining "restaurant," but Sandbox Bakery on Cortland is by far the best storefront bakery in SF. If you want the sweets to come to you, Heartbaker is the other choice. So I have a pastry problem...
What do you get obsessive about here in SF? I guess I obsess about the fact that somehow wherever I go, there always seems to be a guy on a guitar, a drum circle, or someone nice enough to bring a boombox around to share their beautiful music with me. Sometimes being able to hear your friends talk and not listen to shitty music is pretty great.
What local merchant have you been meaning to check out? My wife and I were walking down Valencia the other day and thinking to ourselves...you have a kid and then all of a sudden 100 new bars, restaurants and shops open up that you can't take full advantage of anymore. So, I guess I have a lot of new stuff to check out.
