Neighborhood: Bernal Heights
Gig: Artist and pastry chef at SFMOMA Blue Bottle Rooftop Café
What are you up to these days? I've been busy in the studio for a show at Rare Device in January, as well as one at Z Space with local artist, Emily Heller, about food and stories. I'm working on desserts for the new exhibitions at SFMOMA, including one with Ruth Laskey, a SECA awardee, creating a suite of sodas in response to her series of weavings. I've also been organizing a series of events called BANQUET that take place on the SFMOMA Rooftop. The next one is WEDDING BANQUET , on Thurs. Nov. 17, from 6-8pm.
What event will we find you at this week? The Air We Breathe Symposium at SFMOMA. I'll also be checking out my friends' group abstract photography show at Ampersand International Arts.
Where's your
go-to date place? Bar Tartine. Nothing goes better with
a long marble bar top than a glass of prosecco and a flight of pickles.
Why do you
love your neighborhood? The hidden community gardens, the view from Bernal
Hill, the Good Life Grocery, Sandbox Bakery, my neighbors, the bike ride home, Alemany Farmer's Market, the fire house next door. I could go on.
What's your favorite SF institution? Lately, I like going to the Wednesday night programs at Kadist Art Foundation.
