s finding new ways to solve old problems

Shannon

Neighborhood: Hayes Valley

Gig: Deputy Innovation Officer, City Hall

What are you up to these days? Working to make local government more open and participatory.

What event will we find you at this week? I will be tuning into Mayor Lee's final budget town hall. To engage the tech and innovation community, Mayor Lee will be hosting a "Hangout" on Google+. I will be watching the Hangout live on his YouTube page at noon over lunch. Also, you may find me tweeting the Mayor questions with #AskMEL.

SF is… the innovation capital of the world.

Where would you have your last meal on earth? Shanghai Dumpling King. If it was my last meal on earth, I would try and eat my weight in every soup dumpling they make.

Where do you get your local gossip? The Bold Italic…obviously! I have lived in the City for only a year and a half and when I have visitors, TBI is an invaluable tool for making me appear to know cool places to take them.

Who's your favorite quintessential local character? Gabriel Angelo, a12 year old street performer - not only is he a talented performer and a fantastic dresser, but he is also inspiring. I believe he uses the money he earns playing on the street for trumpet lesson.
