Neighborhood: Bayview

Gig: Founder, The Veggie Table

What are you up to these days? Making calls and taking names — to donate fresh vegetables of course. Now that summer's coming to a close, we're trying to get more fruits and vegetables for The Veggie-Table to participate in more health fairs and local gigs. I'm also trying to figure out which green bean casserole recipe I'm going to use for Thanksgiving.

What event will we find you at this week? A flamenco event at my favorite wine bar in San Francisco —Yield Wine Bar! Their happy hour pitcher deal is amazing, and their food is delicious.

Where would you have your last meal on Earth? HANDS DOWN would be Emmy's Spaghetti Shack's spaghetti and meatballs, paired with a 40 of PBR (keeping it classy, obviously).

Where do you get your local gossip? My neighborhood friend, Chris, sums up the Bayview happenings at the D10 Watch blog. I also love Mission Mission, and a crowd favorite to ensure you're in line when the next big mac and cheese joint pops-up, Eater SF.

Why do you love you neighborhood? My neighborhood is always alive! People are out on the streets, asking me about my day, my dog, and what I'm up to later that night. I've never lived in a neighborhood that has such a strong community. Icing on the cake? Can't get better fried chicken anywhere in SF.

What's your secret spot in town? The pier in Heron's Head Park is amazing. You can see about 12,312 kinds of birds and it's always super quiet and peaceful.

What's your favorite under-the-radar SF restaurant? VinoRosso is a small Italian joint in Bernal that has the best lasagna I've eaten. On top of that, their wine selection is amazing, their dining area is cozy, and their staff is super nice and accommodating.
