For the third installment in our street style series, I wanted to pay tribute to The Bold Italic’s Haberdash event and put the focus on fashionable men. I posted up near the Montgomery BART station on a Tuesday during lunch to see what downtown guys wear during the day.
Because my location was so close to the FiDi, I assumed I’d find my subjects all wearing business suits and shirts, but the eclectic sartorial spectrum was a pleasant surprise. I spotted guys reflecting the looks of art students, bike messengers, and street musicians, in addition to eyeing some swanky businessmen. Much like the other neighborhoods I’ve profiled for Night Flash, downtown San Francisco hasn’t succumbed to any sterile archetypes. Our men clearly embody creativity and individuality.
