Robin Ekiss is a professional “has been.” She has been a waterslide attendant, member of the AFL-CIO Meat Cutter’s Union, finalist in the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association Build-a-Better Burger Cook-off, a Stegner Fellow in poetry at Stanford University, recipient of a Rona Jaffe Foundation Award for emerging women writers, author of The Mansion of Happiness, winner of the 2010 Shenandoah/Glasgow Prize and finalist for Northern California and California Book Awards, an award-winning freelance copywriter, and on the Executive Committee of Litquake, the West Coast’s largest independent literary festival.
