About Sonya

Sonya Yu is a food and restaurant photographer, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. As a youth, she was fortunate to be exposed to an exotic array of foods; by the age of two, Sonya had learned to ask for sea cucumbers at a restaurant. Raised in a food-obsessed family, she has nurtured her simple love of food into an ebullient passion, translated into a photographic format. By working closely with notable chefs and knowledgable purveyors, Sonya has honed her abilities to capture the chefs' best intentions to showcase all of the most delectable qualities of food in a photograph.
