New Music-Theater from Ben Katchor and Mark Mulcahy
with Ken Maiuri and Dave Trenholm
Cartoonist Ben Katchor and composer Mark Mulcahy return with a new multimedia pop opera blending animation and big-screen projection with live vocalists and musicians. Set in the 1970s, Up from the Stacks is the story of Lincoln Cabinee, a part-time page who retrieves books from the New York Public Library’s vast collection. This mundane job unwittingly embroils him in the treacherous business of amusement and vice flourishing in Times Square. Newly commissioned by the New York Public Library and Lincoln Center.
